Deanna Speir

Deanna's work honors the memory of her son, Joseph Speir, who lost his battle with Anorexia Nervosa at the age of 26. Deanna is on a mission to bring much-needed resources to the Delaware/Northern Maryland/Southern New Jersey corridor, including free, weekly, clinician-led support groups for those in recovery, as well as for caregivers.

Deanna raises awareness through various events and educational workshops. She serves as a member of the State of Delaware Eating Disorder Task Force.

When not advocating, Deanna can be found walking Joe's adorable Boston Terrier, Mayzie, or enjoying the Chesapeake Bay with her husband, Gordon, family, and friends.

Sharon Wise

Sharon has been involved with the Mid-Atlantic affiliate since 2019 and brings 40 years of community service, fundraising, and awareness campaign skills to The Alliance for Eating Disorders Awareness.

Bill MacLachlan

Bill is retired with 40+ years of working in the financial services field to include the areas of private sector banking and public sector tax administration. After a journey through the experience of a family member who thankfully has recovered from an eating disorder (ED), he wanted to help others facing the complexities and apparent lack of resources affecting individuals with an ED, their families, loved ones, and friends. He has been active in support and advocacy for ED’s over the last 10 years and looks forward to helping support the mission, vision, and goals of the Alliance through the Alliance Mid-Atlantic Affiliate.

When not engaged in volunteer activities, he can often be found biking with friends or romping with the grand kids!
